IS THIS A PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP?
No. This is an in-studio workshop.
WHAT ARE MY TRANSPORTATION/PARKING OPTIONS FOR GETTING TO AND FROM THE EVENT?
Street parking available.
WHAT CAN I BRING TO THE WORKSHOP?
A fully charged Apple iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, latest Procreate app downloaded.
HOW BIG IS THE CLASS?
We will be ~10 of us.
WHAT’S THE REFUND POLICY?
Refunds will be issued if minimum number of participants is not met by Jan 6, 2019. No refunds after that unless instructor cancels the class.
IS PREVIOUS PROCREATE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?
No! This is class to attend even if you know nothing about Procreate!
Okay before I begin my review, let me just say, “OMG!!!!!!!”
I can draw fairly well, and watercolors are my medium of choice for painting. However I always found breaking into Procreate hard because I didn’t know how to translate my thought process from watercolor to digital. And as a result, even though I watched many videos on how to use Procreate, and owned the iPad and Pencil for over an year, did not actually end up doing much work digitally. Uma’s workshop helped break that barrier for me, and I came back from the class full of enthusiasm and inspiration. I am able to retain my painterly thinking (values, edges, textures) while working with this new tool, and to me that is the biggest takeaway from this workshop.
This class assumes some facility with using Procreate (take the Easy Procreate Workshop for that), but beyond that I think the class is appropriate for a wide range of audience, from beginner to advanced.
Also, Uma is funny!!
Uma was one of the best teachers I’ve ever learned with. My confidence and ability with the iPad blossomed through my time in this interactive class. It was very well prepared, with a clear slideshow on the projector and warm coffee in the chilly morning. She was constantly coming around to check on our progress. Her teaching styles were of none that I’ve ever seen and were very thorough. She walked us through the steps and we eventually had a masterpiece and a new skill set of techniques. I am very keen on taking more classes with Uma on the iPad with Procreate.
