Had just left I-80, towards Eugene now!

What a beautiful country this is! Even though we were early to visit the Olympic National Park – temperature wise – we thoroughly enjoyed its beauty. Fresh air, icy waters, the varied colored beaches, the large logs of wood on beaches, Hoh River Rainforest, the brooks small and large, the waterfalls, it was like visiting a nature lover’s paradise and be given just a glimpse of it. My guess is, it takes about 2-3 months to get used to this area. We lived in Forks, WA a small town which had it’s charm. We didn’t realize the charm taking hold of us until we left town and entered the first city after 3 days, Port Angeles and where instantly repulsed. There were too many lights to see, too many road signs to read, too many decisions to be made on the peaceful journey of driving. Too many things to look out for instead of the nature around you. This is what I live in? Cities which I at other times find beautiful? A collective groan left our mouths. The children couldn’t wait to see a cupcake shop and get into a ‘proper’ hotel. We’ve been back 2 weeks and they now claim to want to go back! Parents are giving each other a mental high five on thinking that we did good by placing this attraction for quiet among nature living even if for short periods in their minds. Since last year, April has been the year where I push art and family together. Using my son’s spring break for such a rejuvenating vacation for just the 4 of us has given us the high for yet another fast paced year ahead.

The new phone was a blessing and curse in disguise. Blessing because it let me draw while drove and curse because when I was not driving I was not conversing but drawing! I painted everyday and that meant reduced hikes for all of us! Something my children should thank me for! In Olympic national park, you don’t have to go far though to see beauties like this-16903012240_969e48c35c_k

The Pacific coast with its crisp air can be brutal to your fingers. Painters, take gloves. I didn’t and I should have.
