Paint ONLINE with international direct watercolor and urban-sketching instructor, Uma Kelkar during an online Dirty Work workshop through Madeline Island School of the Arts. This workshop will be held live on Zoom where students will have the opportunity to interact with Uma and other students.

Dirty Work is aimed at giving students tools to practice before they go out and work en plein air. It wants to address the basic issues of direct watercolors on the go, so that you are enabled for a more successful outdoor session. In this short workshop, we will work on making a personalized reduced palette, reduced brush set, learn tricks of using limited water yet not make muddy color mixes. An extended lunchtime between the morning and afternoon session will allow students to practice skills learned in the morning before afternoon session begins. Uma places a high premium on technical skill as well as mental skills and will share both for a wholesome plein-air experience. Students are encouraged to make notes as the class will teach you tricks, but going over your own notes will allow you to hone them in your personal practice. Suitable for beginners to intermediate watercolor students. Complete novices with tenacity welcome.
